Cosmetic Surgery for the Neck

There are plenty of ways that you can make sure you look your absolute youngest. A lot of times this involves eating right, exercising regularly, and protecting yourself from the harmful effects of the sun. While these are all effective, the only option for tightening skin and reducing the sagging in and around the face is to undergo plastic surgery.

Though many people place lots of emphasis on the crow’s feet and the forehead, there is another part of the face that can have a major impact on your overall appearance: the neck.

Why the Neckline Is So Important

You may have noticed that some people look older or less appealing due to excess skin around the neck area. Extra flab in that region is similarly the source of many problems. An otherwise youthful and beautiful face is totally thrown off by such an appearance.

Causes of Sagging or Drooping Neckline

The most common causes of sagging and drooping skin around the neck area includes:

  • Advanced age
  • Weight gain
  • Weight loss
  • Excess fat

The only way to address the above matters is to meet with a skilled cosmetic plastic surgeon. The ideal way to treat this is neck lift surgery.

What is neck lift surgery?

A neck lift is a facial rejuvenation technique that targets the skin around the neckline and removes skin in order to achieve excellent aesthetic results. It combines facial lifting techniques with careful fat reduction.

Ideal Candidates for Neck Lift

The best candidates for neck lift surgery are people who have loose skin around the neckline due to age and/or weight loss. The neck lift is also an ideal option for people with excess fat located in the neckline.

These candidates should be in overall good health and not suffer from any health conditions that would make surgery a risky endeavor.

The Neck Lift Surgery Procedure

Neck lift surgery is performed under general anesthetic in order to prevent anxiety and extreme discomfort. During the neck lift surgery, incisions will be made along the lower contour of the ears and/or just beneath the chin. Through these incisions, liposuction will be performed in order to remove excess fat. Loose skin will be removed as well, and the remaining skin will be carefully tightened to reduce the appearance of sagging.

In some cases, all a neck lift will require is liposuction in order to achieve excellent results. The exact surgical procedure for your needs will be determined during the consultation process.

Other Options for Aesthetic Enhancement

In addition to the neck lift, there is also another facial lift surgery that can help improve overall appearance a great deal. This is known as the lower facelift. The lower facelift will help reduce the appearance of jowls and and sagging of the cheek area.

It’s not uncommon for the lower facelift to be performed with the neck lift in order to improve overall facial aesthetics.
