Look Rested, Alert and Youthful

Eyelid Surgery Edina

Photo of a woman's face Just as in the rest of the face, the skin under and around the eyes will eventually lose its natural elasticity. Sagging, drooping eyelids can make you appear fatigued, disinterested, or lethargic, and can even cause vision impairment in some cases. If you are tired of looking older than you feel, then it may be time to consider plastic surgery. Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, performed at the Minneapolis-area practice of Brian J. Kobienia M.D., F.A.C.S., has helped hundreds of patients. Contact us for a personal consultation to discuss your plastic surgery options, including blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty Procedure

Dr. Kobienia discusses the blepharoplasty procedure and how it can correct drooping eyelids. Occasionally, drooping eyelids can cause visual problems. Drooping eyelids happen as a natural part of the aging process.

Blepharoplasty Procedure

Blepharoplasty restores the eyes to a more youthful-looking state by addressing the loose, sagging skin in the area, caused by weakened muscles and excess fat. The procedure begins with the administration of IV sedation. Once the patient has been anesthetized, Dr. Kobienia makes incisions along the natural creases of the eyelids. It is important that you arrange to have someone give you a ride home after eyelid surgery since you will more than likely have some vision trouble until the post-operative swelling subsides. In most cases, patients are able to return to their everyday routines within one to two weeks of their blepharoplasty.

In most cases, blepharoplasty is considered an elective cosmetic procedure and is therefore not covered by insurance. However, patients who undergo eyelid surgery to correct vision impairment may find that some or all of the procedure is covered by their insurance plans.
