Turn Back the Clock
Your face is your welcome to the world; the focal point of introductions, conversations, and overall attention. With so much routine focus on the face, should it not reflect and display the youth and vigor you feel inside to the outside world? Over time, due to gravity, aging, and the exposure to the elements, the skin loses its natural elasticity, causing it to sag, droop, and wrinkle. This loss of elasticity can be especially apparent in the face and neck. Thankfully, there is a solution. A facelift performed by Dr. Brian J. Kobienia at our Minneapolis-area practice will help to restore a youthful appearance to your face while tightening the loose and sagging skin.
Video: Full Face Lift Procedure
Dr. Kobienia discusses the full face lift procedure that he performs at his Edina plastic surgery practice. This procedure can enhance the face, neckline, and jawline to give a much younger appearance. He can conceal the scars behind the ears or beneath the hairline.
Facelift surgery, technically known as rhytidectomy, can be performed on both men and women to rejuvenate, smooth, and tighten the skin of the face. As with all plastic surgery procedures, facelift surgery begins with anesthesia. Once the patient has been anesthetized, Dr. Kobienia makes an incision in front of the ear at the temple, extending up into the hairline and finishing behind the ear at the base of the scalp. He then separates the skin from the underlying tissues; this allows him to tighten the deeper tissues, removing some if necessary. Once this stage is complete, Dr. Kobienia re-drapes the skin, removing any excess skin if necessary. Once the skin is smooth and taut, the incisions are closed using sutures.Patients can recover at home, and most are able to return to their normal routines within one to two weeks of surgery. For more comprehensive results, facelift surgery can be combined with other plastic surgery procedures such as blepharoplasty.
